The European Final at a Great Price: Ajax – Manchester United
Tonight Europe will have its first club champion for the 2016/2017 season. This will happen at the “Friends Arena” in Stockholm, where the Europa League trophy will challenge Ajax Amsterdam and Manchester United.
The second-highest tournament is often overlooked by the big European grands, but for the Reds the game is a huge prize – a place in the Champions League teams next season. At the same time he is one of the great teams in the history of football in Europe, who returns back under the spotlight and is determined to perform well.
Unfortunately, the game will go under the banner of a terrorist attack at a Manchester concert that killed 22 people and injured dozens of others.
The duel will start with a minute’s silence in memory of the victims, and the two teams will be in black strips.
The last Ajax match was on May 14 when a team with a mean age of 20 years and 139 days defeated Willem II. The team ended with a point behind the Feyenord champion.
United finished the season with a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace, who also came with many young footballers. Jose Mourinho’s team finishes in sixth place in the Premiership and so participation in the Champions League is only a success tonight.
In Europe, the Red Devils have lost 10 matches (7 wins, 3 draws) but the inspired team from Amsterdam has already dealt with rivals like Lyon, Schalke and Celta Vigo.
So far, in history, the two clubs have met four times and exchanged two wins. As a coach, Mourinho has met Ajax 6 times with 6 wins with a 20: 2 goal difference.
In both teams there are problems with punishment and injuries as for Ajax out of the bouts are Virgher and Sincgraven, and United Bai is punished and Shaw, Ibrahimovic, Rook and Young injured.
