Premier League leader Chelsea took another step to the title of England. In a Premier League 34-round match, the “blue” of West London beat Southampton 4-2 at Stamford Bridge. Eden Azar (5), Gary Cahill (45 + 1) and Diego Kosta (54, 89) were right for the capitalists, and two former Chelsea players – Oriol Romeu (24) and Ryan Bertrand (90 + 4) Goals for “saints”.
Chelsea now has 78 points, with 7 more than the second Tottenham, who is less than a match with their fellow players. Southampton is ninth with 40 points.
The game started with intense moments in front of Tibor Courtoa’s door, but in the 5th minute Chelsea went ahead in the score. Eden Azar received a nice pass from Diego Kosta and with an excellent shot directed the ball in the lower right corner of Fraser Forster. The goal was Cesc Fabregas, who, with a great shot, found Kosta before the Brazilian’s assistant with a Spanish passport to the Belgian.
Shortly after his attack, Azar had a new chance for a goal but shot inaccurately.
In the 24th minute the “saints” level the score. After centrifuging from a corner and shuffling in front of Kurtoa’s door former ex-midfielder Oriol Romeu was dropped by the defense of Sofia residents and could not be wrong at a close distance on an empty door.
Chelsea tried to regain the advantage in the result before the break and finally managed, albeit in the final seconds of the first part. In the first minute of the added time Captain Gary Cahill headed the ball into the net behind Forster.
Nine minutes after the break Diego Costa made the score 3: 1. The striker kicked the ball in Southampton’s head with a brilliant centering of Cesc Fabregas.
Ten minutes before the end, Forster, with a magnificent rescue, prevented N’Goolo Cante from making the score 4: 1. Shortly thereafter, the Reserve Pedro Rodriguez was near a goal in the Southampton door, but his shot went centimeters off the goal.
Seconds later Chelsea’s experienced defender John Terry appeared, who was applauded by the hosts. As it is known, Terry will no longer be a Chelsea player next season.
The result, however, was 4: 1 in the 89th minute when Diego Costa finished his second goal in the match after a great attack on Antonio Conte’s footballers.
In the last few seconds, Ryan Bertrand headed the ball into the net behind Kurtoa, forming the final result in the match.
