Arsenal and Manchester City in a semi-final duel for FA Cup
Today, at 17:00, Arsenal and Manchester City will face each other in a 1/2-final match in the FA Cup tournament. Both teams in the past few years do not like it, and now they have a chance to clear their bets in such a major Wembley game.
The dislike between these two clubs was caused by several transfers from Emirates to Etihad. Some fans of Arsenal fans have decided to change their club membership in search of more money and more success and this left a serious wound that seems to soon not heal.
This season, both teams disappointed with their performance. Manchester City had great expectations for Josep Guardiola to lead the team on the road to the title, but this is not the case for the moment. “Citizens” are barely in the top 4, and they have to be careful until the end of the season so as not to miss the Champions League. In this tournament, the team also did not get to the expected level and finished their participation early in the 1/8-final, where it was eliminated from Monaco.
In Arsenal, the situation is even more unpleasant. For the moment, the team is on the unenviable 6th position in the standings and is very likely not to reach the top 4 in the remaining matches by the end of the season. In the Champions League, the team also made a big break with a 1/8-finale after two heavy defeats from Bayern Munich (1: 5). Fans are angry and want Arsene Wenger’s head, who will almost certainly leave after the season. However, a possible success for the FA Cup will be a little comfort for the “gunners”, and so is the “citizens”, and that is why today’s fight is so important.
The rivals have already had two meetings with each other during the season. In the first match of Etihad Manchester City won 2: 1, and in the clash of Emirates there was no winner and the game ended in a score of 2: 2.
Arsenal has a lot of staff problems before today’s game. Skidran Mustafi, David Ospina, Lucas Perez and Santi Casorla are injured. Danny Welbeck is also having a slight problem but has a chance to be ready to play.
In Manchester City, the game certainly misses the injured John Stones, Bakari Sanya and Ilkay Gundogan. Gabriel Jezeus has already resumed his training, but is not yet in optimal play and is more likely to stay on the bench in today’s game.
